Dr. Rubina Gilani inaugurates the newly renovated Microsurgical Training Centre at HMC

Dr. Rubina Gilani inaugurates the newly renovated Microsurgical Training Centre at HMC Prof. M Dawood Khan Microsurgical Training Centre has been renovated successfully at Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar (HMC) making the center provide free eye surgeries. Dr. Rubina Gilani, Member Board of Governance MTI-HMC inaugurated the renovated training center here on Friday. The inaugural ceremony took place at Eye OPD of the HMC, where Dr. Rubina Gilani was the Chief Guest. Medical Director Dr. Shehzad Akbar, Hospital Director Dr. Shehzad Faisal, Director PICO Dr. Sanaullah and Prof. Muhammad Daud Khan attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rubina Gilani appreciated the efforts of PICO and HMC for establishing training facility in the Province. She was of the view that Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is very supportive to innovations in health system and this is the fruit that the hospital is now having state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to provide quality healthcare. She emphasized on the continues professional development of the staff to serve more efficiently. Addressing the inaugural ceremony Dr. Shehzad Akbar said that the students of Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology, Khyber Girls Medical College and the Eye Specialists of PICO will use this training facility to update their knowledge on surgical techniques. He said that hospital believes in the provision of quality health services. He said that PICO has always been very supportive institute of the hospital, not only in providing experts of Ophthalmology but also supporting the hospital to upgrade the equipment as well. On the occasion PICO also handed over surgical equipment for operation theatre to HMC which included Phacho Emulsifition, Biometry equipment (A-Scan), Keratometer, Auto Chave, Microscope, Electrical OT table and other surgical equipment. It is pertinent to mention here that PICO is a teaching institute producing experts in the respective field. According to the PICO record, around 47 students have been registered in various specializations that includes Masters of Philosophy in Community Ophthalmology, Doctor of Ophthalmology, Bachelor of Vision Sciences, Operation Theatre, MPH General and community and health.
