Scope of Services
Departmental Overview
The Department of Dermatology at MTI, HMC is a referral center for dermatology patients from all over KPK, providing care for various dermatological conditions and offering both diagnostic and cosmetic procedures. The department operates a busy out-patient clinic and a 20-bedded in-patient ward, and it is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Services Offered
- Treatment of skin, nail, hair diseases (Children & adults), cosmetic issues, and diseases related to environmental and industrial hazards
- Participation in multi-disciplinary meetings to manage cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases
- Diagnostic procedures (skin biopsy, bacterial/fungal/viral specimen collection)
- Dermoscopic examinations, intralesional injections, mole/cyst/wart removal
- Electrocautery, cryotherapy, ultraviolet therapy
- Microdermabrasion, iontophoresis, laser hair removal, fractional CO2 laser treatments
Service Hours
- OPD Clinic: 0800 hrs – 1600 hrs (Monday to Friday)
- Emergency Dermatological Services: 24/7
- IBP: 1600 hrs to 2100 hrs
- On-call commitments: 24 hrs

Staff Knowledge and Skill Set
- Consultants: 2-3 years post-Fellowship experience
- Staff Nurses: Trained in general management of dermatological diseases with valid license from the Pakistan Nursing Council
- Technicians: Completed one-year clinical training
